Earthquakes in and around the Channel Tunnel

The UK is seismically a quiet country. We have no major faults and we are not near any plate boundaries, so no excuse for any earthquakes. OK, so for no earthquakes, the UK seems to have a few. And some big(ish) ones (at least for the UK). Each of the markers on the map below are earthquakes....

...some of the earthquakes are recent, others are historic and only the bigs ones get recorded from those good old days (pre 1975). If you want current information, the BGS has a map which shows the last 30 days of earthquakes in and around the UK, and a KML file for Google Earth.

For added interest, the red line is the Channel Tunnel. And in case you're wondering, the tunnel was built to withstand small earthquakes....
