Unexplained Events and Explosions

The BGS have listening stations all around the UK. These stations report automatically, any event which it detects. For two days in April 2011, the BGS was reporting a 2.2ML earthquake in the English Channel only a few miles away from the Channel Tunnel. Then their listing of recent events dropped this 'earthquake'. After some digging around, it turned out that they had re-classified the event as a 'confirmed explosion'. Interestingly, another three nearby in March were also classified as 'confirmed explosion's. A bit of surfing of the internet has failed to find a report of these explosions, which must be rather large to be detected by the BGS.

In olden days, these same staions would be the only way of detecting some country doing Atomic Bomb tests. So they already have a proven track record there and often detect the sonic booms of aircraft in and around the UK. So thats brings us to these events. Four of the six are 'Confirmed Explosions'. The other two by location, time and depth appear to be the same. But what are they? The one by the Channel Tunnel was 5:21am.

If you want current information, the BGS has a map which shows the last 30 days of earthquakes in and around the UK, and a KML file for Google Earth.
